
The Greek Parliament has elected former Parliament Speaker Kostas (Konstantinos) Tasoulas as president, whose candidacy was nominated by Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis, according to the results of the fourth round of voting held in the country’s main legislative body, Report informs via TASS.
The first three rounds of voting, held on January 25 and 31, and February 6, were unsuccessful. In the first and second rounds of voting, a two-thirds majority (200 votes in the 300-seat parliament) was required to elect the president of Greece, and in the third round, a three-fifths majority (180 votes) was needed.
In all three rounds, 160 parliamentarians voted for Tasoulas.
