“The UN appreciates the support provided by the Azerbaijani government to internally displaced persons,” UN Resident Coordinator Ghulam Isaczai said.

Report informs that he spoke at the “round table” dedicated to the assistance of the UN High Commissioner for refugees to internally displaced persons in Azerbaijan.

He noted that the UN from the very first days supported internally displaced persons in Azerbaijan, involving several of its structural units in this work: “Even after the ceasefire, the UN continues to support refugees. Currently, more than 600,000 refugees live in uncertain conditions, unaware when they will return to their homes. Notesworthy, most refugees are provided with relatively comfortable, warm housing, however it is necessary to remind that there are still quite a lot of refugees whose living conditions do not fully meet modern standards. The problems of refugees, who are not settled in new settlements, should be solved.”
