The German party Alternative for Germany (AfD) wants to have “very good relations” with Russia, said German chancellor candidate Alice Weidel.

In an interview with Bild, she emphasized that AfD aims to lift anti-Russian sanctions, which she claims are also harming Germany.

Unlike another chancellor candidate, Friedrich Merz, Weidel opposes supplying weapons to Ukraine and considers Zelensky illegitimate. The early voting in Germany will take place on February 23.
