German law enforcement authorities have apprehended three men – citizens of Russia, Ukraine, and Armenia – on suspicion of working for a foreign intelligence service.

According to Report, which cites the German Public Prosecutor’s Office, the three detained individuals were tasked by a foreign intelligence agency to gather information about a “person from Ukraine” residing in Germany.

“To accomplish this, they conducted surveillance on June 19 at a café in Frankfurt am Main, where their target was supposed to be located,” the authorities revealed in an official statement.

The specific foreign intelligence service involved has not been disclosed.
