Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev spoke at the session on “Azerbaijan’s role in the new geopolitical environment” at the International Forum in Cernobbio, Italy, themed “Intelligence on the World, Europe, and Italy”, where he highlighted, among other things, the negotiation process between Baku and Yerevan.

An article in the Russian newspaper Moskovsky Komsomolets cites statements by President Ilham Aliyev that almost 80 percent of the points of the peace treaty between Azerbaijan and Armenia have already been approved.

“Aliyev assured that the parties will be able to achieve peace in the South Caucasus, as evidenced by the latest developments in the negotiation process between Baku and Yerevan,” the article says.

The Russian TASS news agency also published an article headlined “Azerbaijan, Armenia agree on 80% of peace treaty’s wording — President Aliyev,” which cites important statements by the Azerbaijani leader regarding the delimitation and demarcation of the border with Armenia.

Vedomosti, Izvestia, Gazeta.ru, NEWS.Ru, Vestnik Kavkaza, Regnum and others widely covered Ilham Aliyev’s statements about the negotiations on a peace agreement with Armenia and the delimitation of the border.

In its article headlined “Azerbaijan, Armenia agree on 80% of peace treaty’s wording — President Aliyev”, Anadolu Agency notes that the Azerbaijani lands were under Armenian occupation for almost 30 years and were liberated during the Second Karabakh War.

“Recent developments in the negotiations between Azerbaijan and Armenia show that we are on the path to peace. We are actively continuing discussions, and almost 80% of the peace treaty text has already been agreed upon,” the agency quotes President Ilham Aliyev as saying.
