
The French Senate has voted in favor of a 2025 budget amendment that abolishes privileges previously granted to former prime ministers and presidents, as announced by French senator Nathalie Goulet on social media, Report informs.
The initiative, which needs to be approved by the joint commission of the National Assembly, will allow saving 2.8 million euros annually in the budget.
Following their resignation, France’s prime ministers were entitled to an official car, personal driver, and personal secretary. However, since 2019, these privileges have been limited, only lasting until the former official reaches 67 years of age.
