The attempt of some major powers to interfere in the internal affairs of other countries, especially those pursuing independent and sovereign policies, is not a new trend, Azerbaijan’s Foreign Minister Jeyhun Bayramov said during a joint press conference with Georgian counterpart Maka Bochorishvili.

“What’s new is that these attempts have never been as demonstrative as they are now,” added the foreign minister.

Bayramov noted that this resulted from both countries not following dictated policies:

“Azerbaijan and Georgia do not act at someone’s behest. They pursue independent foreign policies, which arises the intention to punish us.”

The minister noted that the smear campaign against Azerbaijan was conducted in the context of major international events like COP29.
