A fire that broke out on a major transmission line in Montenegro on Friday has led to widespread power outages across the country and in neighboring regions, according to the Montenegrin Electric Transmission System (CEDIS).

Report informs via local media that the Western Balkans are currently experiencing a severe heatwave, with temperatures expected to soar up to 40°C (104°F) by Saturday. Around noon on Friday, a fire erupted on one of the main transmission lines, as reported by Radio and Television of Montenegro.

“Due to the accident on CEDIS networks, the Montenegrin power transmission system is without power supply in almost the entire territory of Montenegro,” the company stated.
