The EU members have never considered and are not considering the possibility of sending their military to Ukraine to participate in the war, EU foreign policy chief Josep Borrell said in an interview with the Spanish newspaper El País, Report informs.
Answering the question of whether it is worth sending aircraft to Kyiv, the diplomat said:
“I think that we need to help Ukraine in every possible way. In accordance with the circumstances of non-combatant status in which we wish to continue to remain.”
He explained that this means no direct participation of the EU countries in the conflict.
“We would be belligerent if we sent troops – something that is definitely not on the agenda, and never was,” Borrell assured.
Borrell did not specify when the promised Western tanks would be delivered to Ukraine.
