Türkiye intends to engage in the international integration of the unrecognized Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus and considers recognition of its independence the only option, President Recep Tayyip Erdogan said in an interview with Turkish media in New York, Report informs.
“It is now clear that the federal formula for solving the problem of Cyprus is unrealistic and will not work. To deny this fact is to lead the island to a dead end. We sought to find a fair and permanent solution in Cyprus on the principles of creating two states. Recognition of the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus as an independent state is the only and the most effective step that will contribute to solving the Cyprus problem,” said the Turkish leader.
