Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan stated that climate financing was the main topic of discussion during the Leaders’ Summit within the framework of COP29 in Baku.

According to Report, Erdogan revealed that in an interview with journalists on the plane while returning from Azerbaijan.

“Particularly, we discussed how to create the financial resources needed by developing countries. We discussed the confirmation and support through additional mechanisms for the annual $100 billion climate finance target announced at the 2009 Copenhagen Climate Summit for the period after 2025,” the president emphasized.

The Turkish leader also thanked his Azerbaijani counterpart Ilham Aliyev for hosting COP29. Erdogan noted that he held several bilateral meetings in Baku: “In this context, we met with Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev, British Prime Minister Keir Starmer, Kazakhstan President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, and Moldovan President Maia Sandu. During these meetings, we discussed bilateral and regional issues.”
