The new Lithuanian government is discussing with Azerbaijan the organization of the next meeting of the bilateral intergovernmental commission, Lithuanian Ambassador to Azerbaijan Kestutis Vaskelevicius told Report.

“The Intergovernmental Commission on bilateral cooperation between the Government of the Republic of Azerbaijan and the Government of the Republic of Lithuania is an important body that gives an impetus for strengthening our relations and broadening our bilateral agenda. As Lithuania has just recently formed a new Government, the discussions about the planning of the Intergovernmental Commission meeting are starting. The last Intergovernmental Commission took place in Vilnius in 2023,” he noted.

“The visit of Lithuanian President to Azerbaijan or Azerbaijani President’s visit to Lithuania would undoubtedly strengthen our bilateral relations. While we are building up bilateral agenda that would allow the visit of Lithuanian President to Azerbaijan, there are no plans for such a visit in the immediate future.
