In the context of the current operational situation, the state border remains the frontier on which the main efforts to ensure national security are concentrated, Colonel-General Elchin Guliyev, head of the State Border Service of Azerbaijan, said at the 86th meeting of the Council of Commanders of the CIS Border Troops in Baku, Report informs.

“Against this background, issues of expanding international border cooperation, consolidating joint efforts to solve emerging problems and ensure stability at state borders are becoming increasingly important.

The State Border Service attaches great importance to the implementation and development of both bilateral and multilateral cooperation with border services at the bilateral, regional and international levels.

In order to organize interaction with the border agencies of neighboring countries, meetings and consultations are held with representatives of Russia, Kazakhstan, Turkmenistan, Georgia, Türkiye and Iran, new forms and methods of further cooperation are being considered,” the head of the State Border Service said.

As an example of cooperation, he noted the experience of conducting joint operational and preventive measures in the Caspian Sea together with Russian and Kazakh colleagues. “Mutual friendly visits of border ships are also carried out, working meetings are held along the line of border control and operational bodies, demarcation work on the Azerbaijani-Russian border is being successfully continued, information is being exchanged promptly, and coordination is being carried out on issues arising on the Azerbaijani-Armenian section of the state border.”
