The European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) is pleased to announce the appointment of Gianpiero Nacci as Managing Director for Climate Strategy and Delivery (CSD), effective 1 January 2025. This appointment follows Harry Boyd-Carpenter’s recent move to the role of Managing Director, Sustainable Infrastructure Group.

Report informs, citing the bank, that Gianpiero Nacci, an Italian national, has been one of the driving forces behind the EBRD’s climate ambitions since joining the Bank in 2003 as Principal Engineer in the former Energy Efficiency department. He was promoted to Senior Engineer in 2006 and appointed Deputy Head of Energy Efficiency and Climate Change in 2017.

In 2021, Mr Nacci was named Director of Sustainable Business and Infrastructure in the CSD division. Under his leadership, the team successfully transformed into an essential technical and operational pillar for EBRD business groups, such as Corporate Services, Agribusiness and the Sustainable Infrastructure Group (SIG), on green finance and policy.

Over the years, Mr Nacci has played a pivotal role in helping deliver impactful green financing and policy solutions. His extensive expertise spans industrial decarbonisation, circular economy, energy transition, green cities, climate adaptation and nature financing.

Mr Nacci said: “I am honoured to take on this new role and build on the EBRD’s long-standing commitment to tackling climate challenges and biodiversity loss across our regions. Together with our talented teams, we will further scale up green financing and unlock more private-sector investments, continuing to drive meaningful change towards a greener and more sustainable future.”
