Dredging operations have begun in the waters of the Kazakh port of Kuryk, according to the press release of the Ministry of Transport of Kazakhstan, Report informs.
“Dredging operations are being carried out in the waters of the port of Kuryk to ensure the safety of navigation. The bottom is planned to be deepened by one and a half to two meters. For this purpose, specialized dredging equipment from the European company Jan de Nul has been brought in, with which an EPC contract has been signed: from design to delivery of dredging operations on a turnkey basis,” reads the report.
It is noted that dredging operations will create conditions for further expansion of terminal capacities.
Today, the throughput capacity of the port of Kuryk is 6 million tons (railway terminal – 4 million, auto terminal – 2 million). The port also has the capacity to simultaneously store 250 trucks.
Similar work will also be carried out in the port of Aktau.
