Distinguished Visitors Day was held as part of “Anatolian Phoenix – 2024” International Search and Rescue Exercise conducted in Konya, Türkiye, Report informs, citing Ministry of Defense of Azerbaijan.

Representatives of the Azerbaijan Air Force, Naval Forces and the office of the Military Attaché of the Republic of Azerbaijan in the Republic of Türkiye took part in the Distinguished Visitors Day.

First, statistical data on the progress of exercise, assigned objectives and fulfillment of upcoming tasks, as well as a short video dedicated to international exercise were presented to the participants.

After the completion of the official part of the event, media representatives and guests watched the practical fulfillment of various episodes by participants of the “Anatolian Phoenix – 2024” International Search and Rescue Exercise at the training range.

The “Araz-2025” joint exercise, held with the participation of Azerbaijani and Iranian servicemen, successfully concluded.

Within the framework of the exercise, the assigned tasks were carried out precisely by the military personnel of both countries, citing the Azerbaijani Defense Ministry.

According to the plan, during the activities carried out in coordination at various stages, the participants demonstrated high combat training.

The exercise leaders highly evaluated the professionalism and level of training of the personnel.

At the end, mutual gifts were presented, and the distinguished servicemen were awarded.

The opening ceremony of the “Araz-2025” joint exercise took place in Azerbaijan.

First, the Azerbaijani and Iranian exercise leaders, as well as other high-ranking representatives, visited the monument erected in memory of our Shehids, who sacrificed their lives for the Motherland, and laid flowers.

The memory of National Leader Heydar Aliyev and Shehids, who gave their lives for the territorial integrity of both countries, was honored with a minute of silence. The National Anthems of the Republic of Azerbaijan and the Islamic Republic of Iran were performed.

At the event, the exercise leaders delivered speeches wishing the participants success and emphasizing the importance of the joint exercise.

The importance of the “Araz-2025” joint exercise in further strengthening the steadily developing Azerbaijan-Iran military cooperation was emphasized. It was noted that this exercise contributes to enhancing mutual trust between the two countries and their armed forces.

At the end of the opening ceremony, military personnel solemnly marched in front of the grandstand.

In accordance with the training plan for 2025, live-fire tactical exercise was held with the Azerbaijan Naval Forces’ Marine Units.

According to the exercise scenario, units were withdrawn on alert from the points of permanent deployment to assembly areas.

At the next stage of the exercise, the marines completed the tasks on covert, rapid and disguised movement to the attack line, destroying imaginary enemy’s manpower and equipment, as well as seizing his positions and taking control over supply roads.

During the exercise, measures were taken to organize a commandant service and a mobile patrol system within the unit’s deployment area. Additionally, activities on nighttime classes were also conducted.

All the tasks were successfully completed during the tactical exercise conducted to maintain the high combat capability of marines, as well as to improve the theoretical and practical skills of military personnel.

Command-staff exercise was conducted in accordance with the training plan of the Azerbaijani Combined Arms Army for 2025, citing the country’s Defense Ministry.

The units involved in the exercise were put on alert and withdrawn to the training areas, their maneuverability, as well as skills of the commanders and headquarters in controlling units under operational conditions were checked. 

During the exercise, conducted in conditions close to real combat, the units destroyed the targets of imaginary enemy. 

The tasks set during the command-staff exercise were successfully completed.

In accordance with the training plan for 2025, training flights on Super Mushshak training aircraft were conducted in the Azerbaijan Air Force aircraft units, citing the Defense Ministry.

Following the health assessments of the flight crews and announcing safety rules, the military pilots carried out a control inspection of the Super Mushshak training aircraft.

According to the training plan, the young pilots successfully completed tasks on takeoff and landing, carrying out flights in aviation groups along the designated routes, working out pilotage elements at various altitudes and other training tasks.

The set goals were achieved during the flights conducted to improve the combat training and practical skills of military pilots.

According to the Defense Ministry’s annual training plan, a training session, held in one of the special purpose military units with a group of reservists within joint actions with the State Service for Mobilization and Conscription, ended.

Enlightening talks were held with reservists, safety rules were explained to them, and cultural events were held to effectively organize leisure time, citing the ministry.

During the practical classes held at the training center, the participants got acquainted with small arms and some military equipment available in the arsenal of special forces’ units, received training in the rules of their use, and also performed practical shooting exercises with small arms.

Then, in accordance with the training program, tactical and reconnaissance training classes were conducted with reservists involved in the session.

During the practical classes, the participants completed tasks on withdrawing to the designated area, practicing methods of covert group movement, approaching an enemy facility, setting up ambushes and jointly seizing imaginary enemy’s equipment along with its personnel, as well as other training tasks.

Under the training plan for 2025, the helicopter units of the Azerbaijan Air Force conducted training flights.

After receiving training reports from the flight crews, the pilots’ theoretical knowledge about the training flight conditions and safety regulations was checked, citing the Defense Ministry. 

Then the pilots carried out a control inspection of the helicopters.

In accordance with the plan, pilots carried out flights from base airfields along the designated routes and accomplished the tasks on takeoff and landing, conducting aerial reconnaissance, detecting air and ground targets, establishing communication with command headquarters points, as well as on other activities.

The pilots demonstrated high professionalism during the training flights conducted to improve combat training and practical skills.

US President Donald Trump and Vice President JD Vance scolded Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky on Friday in a tense Oval Office exchange, telling him to be more ‘thankful’ and warning, ‘make a deal with Russia or we’re out.’ Zelensky left in his motorcade shortly after, without holding a planned joint press conference.

Reports suggest that the discussion escalated when Trump and Vice President JD Vance expressed frustration over Ukraine’s stance on a truce with Russia. Trump reportedly emphasized the importance of reaching a settlement, warning that U.S. support might wane if an agreement was not pursued. According to sources, Zelensky countered by reiterating that compromise with Russia was not feasible given the ongoing conflict and allegations of war crimes.

A Heated Exchange in the Oval Office

Following the meeting, Trump addressed the situation on his social media platform, where he suggested that Zelensky was “not ready for peace” and should return when he is prepared to engage in negotiations. The remarks fueled speculation about the U.S.’s evolving stance on its involvement in Ukraine and raised concerns among international allies about continued American support for the country.

International Reactions and Uncertain Diplomatic Prospects

The fallout from the meeting has drawn strong reactions from global leaders. European officials reaffirmed their commitment to supporting Ukraine, with French President Emmanuel Macron emphasizing that Russia remains the aggressor in the conflict. Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk reassured Ukraine that it would not be left to face the situation alone, while Spanish Prime Minister Pedro Sánchez reiterated his country’s unwavering backing for Ukraine.

As the war continues, the diplomatic rift between Trump and Zelensky underscores the complexities of negotiating a resolution. While some view Trump’s stance as a pragmatic effort to bring an end to hostilities, others worry that pressuring Ukraine into a premature agreement could undermine its long-term security.

With ongoing military developments on the ground and shifting geopolitical dynamics, the outcome of future negotiations remains uncertain. What is clear, however, is that the recent Oval Office meeting has introduced new challenges in the already delicate process of seeking a lasting peace in Ukraine.

Exercise with the Azerbaijan Naval Forces’ Marine Infantry Units was conducted, citing the country’s Defense Ministry.

After clarifying the planned actions, the units carried out measures against imaginary enemy’s ambushes.

In adverse weather conditions, in wooded and mountainous terrain, mobile groups advanced along the designated route within the time standard and successfully overcame ambushes. Additionally, tasks related to first aid and evacuation of the wounded were successfully fulfilled.

The tasks set during the exercise conducted using the experience gained in successful combat operations of the Azerbaijan Army and aimed at enhancing the military personnel’s endurance and practical skills, were fulfilled with high professionalism, and the goals set were fully achieved.

The State Agency of Azerbaijan Automobile Roads continues the construction of internal roads in Fuzuli at an accelerated pace.

Report informs, citing the State Agency, that the first stage of the project involves the construction of 12 streets with a total length of 18.5 km.

Work is also underway to lay paving stones on and along sidewalks, and install lighting poles.

In addition, Fuzuli city’s communication lines (water supply, sewerage, drainage pipes, gas pipeline, communication and power supply lines) are being constructed along the streets.

At present, works within the first stage of internal roads construction in Fuzuli city have been completed by 30%.

This is not the first case of airspace closure over Grozny, but tragedy was avoided then thanks to timely notification and the aircraft’s return to Baku, Airbus A320 captain and AZAL Airlines Flight Safety Management Director Rinat Huseynov said on the “Shall We Talk?” podcast speaking about AZAL plane crash which occurred on December 25, Report informs.

“There was a case when the airspace over Grozny was closed. After takeoff, we received information about this, and that time it came on time. The aircraft returned to Baku, as required in such circumstances,” Huseynov said.

During the interview, they discussed the reasons why the aircraft that crashed near Aktau could not return to the departure airport, and why an emergency water landing or reaching the runway proved impossible.

Huseynov also noted that the preliminary crash report from Kazakhstan’s Ministry of Transport has already been submitted, but the final investigation results are still pending. AZAL’s internal investigation is also ongoing to identify all details of the tragedy.

“The key fact that has been established is that the aircraft was subjected to external impact,” said Huseynov, responding to a question about the most important finding in the Kazakhstan Ministry of Transport’s report.

The captain described the condition of the crashed aircraft, the specifics of oxygen cylinder operations on board, as well as the crew’s actions, which were deemed professional and will become a subject of study in global aviation practice.

“We will wait for the final response and recommendations that will be made both for the entire international community and for our operators operating within the legislation of the Republic of Azerbaijan,” he added.

AZAL passenger aircraft operating the Baku-Grozny flight crashed on December 25, 2024, near the city of Aktau in Kazakhstan. Of the 67 people on board the aircraft, 38 died and 29 survived.

AMAN-25 multinational exercise held with participation of a group of Azerbaijan Naval Forces’ servicemen in Karachi, Pakistan, continues, Report informs, citing the Azerbaijani Defense Ministry.

In accordance with the exercise plan, the underwater offence and underwater defense groups of the Azerbaijan Naval Forces demonstrated high professionalism in conducting anti-terrorist operations in human settlements and ship seizure operations on the high seas, as well as neutralizing unexploded ordnance and improvised explosive devices in various areas.

During AMAN-25 multinational exercise held under the motto “Together for Peace”, Azerbaijani naval special forces successfully fulfill all assigned tasks.

The aircraft of the Azerbaijan Air Force have conducted training flights in accordance with the training plan for 2025, Report informs, citing the Azerbaijani Defense Ministry.

Following the health assessments of the flight crews, the military pilots conducted a control inspection of the Su-25 and Su-25ML attack aircraft.

After familiarizing with safety rules, tasks on takeoff and landing, working out elements of difficult pilotage at various altitudes, determining the coordinates of imaginary enemy’s ground targets, conducting aerial reconnaissance and other training tasks were accomplished.

During the training flights, all the assigned tasks were fulfilled with high professionalism.

Azerbaijan is of great importance to the US, including for ensuring Europe’s energy security. Azerbaijan-US relations under President Donald Trump will gradually improve, Fuad Huseynaliyev, director of Report News Agency, said in the Chronicle of Western Azerbaijan project release.

He commented on Trump’s main theses, as well as his position and further plans regarding the situation in the South Caucasus.

“I think that, in principle, Trump is interested in the situation in the South Caucasus. We have already seen how President Ilham Aliyev held talks with him after his election, even before the inauguration. So I think that relations between Azerbaijan and the US will slowly improve,” noted the agency director.

Speaking about the crisis in Azerbaijan-US relations that developed under former President Joe Biden, Huseynaliyev emphasized the bias of his administration towards the Armenian-Azerbaijani conflict.

“When we see that a mediator clearly supports one side, and supports it not objectively, we don’t need such a mediator. Moreover, as you know, in April 2024, an agreement was concluded between Armenia, the EU, and the US on further arming Armenia and so on. That is, the Americans were involved in this process too. Media also reported that American weapons are now being delivered to Armenia. All these factors that the Biden administration promoted effectively nullified their position in Azerbaijan. Trump is much more pragmatic in this regard. He bases his decisions primarily on US interests,” he emphasized.

According to the agency director, Azerbaijan plans to become one of the most significant players in the alternative energy market, which is also of great importance for both the US and Europe.

“Now we are actively promoting green energy in our country. Not only are we promoting it, but we also plan to export our green energy to Europe, creating prerequisites for improving the energy supply issue in this region. I think that Trump will eventually become very familiar with all these issues and radically change US policy in the region. He will approach relationships with regional countries within his pragmatism and mutually beneficial cooperation that will be interesting for both the US and Azerbaijan,” Huseynaliyev added.
