“Russian journalist Vladimir Solovyov’s statements regarding the terrorist attack in Crocus City Hall, located in the Moscow oblast, are aimed at inciting ethnic hatred and distorting relations between Russia and Azerbaijan,” director of Report Information Agency Fuad Huseynaliyev said in his statement to Baku TV.
According to him, what Solovyov said in his program on the Rossiya TV channel demonstrates a biased position against Azerbaijan.
“As we all know, Solovyov said after the terrorist attack that he allegedly heard Azerbaijani surnames among its perpetrators. But when the program was broadcast, the main suspects and main perpetrators of this terrorist act were already known, and there was no one with an Azerbaijani surname. Moreover, emphasizing the fact that the terrorist act was committed at the Crocus City Hall, a venue belonging to Azerbaijanis, is a clear indication of an attempt to incite ethnic hatred,” Fuad Huseynaliyev said.
The director of Report noted that the Russian journalist has quite close relations with the Armenian diaspora.
“Due to these connections, Solovyov not only ignores the criteria of objectivity and impartiality required for the journalistic profession but also ignores the state interests of Russia. This is already a basis for the investigative bodies of the Russian Federation to investigate Solovyov’s activities and take measures against him,” Huseynaliyev said.
