The United Nations has reported that nearly 700,000 people have been affected by the catastrophic consequences of floods triggered by heavy rainfall in West and Central African countries.

According to Report, which cites Tchadinfos, the relentless deluge has claimed the lives of 72 individuals and left another 699 injured.

The widespread destruction has left a trail of devastation, with over 62,000 homes reduced to rubble. The countries bearing the brunt of this calamity include Guinea, the Democratic Republic of Congo, Côte d’Ivoire, Liberia, Mali, Nigeria, Togo, and Chad.
