Azerbaijan’s Minister of Ecology and Natural Resources, Mukhtar Babayev, who also serves as the President of COP29, conducted a series of high-profile meetings during London’s Climate Week.

According to Report, Minister Babayev’s agenda included a crucial meeting with Ditte Juul Jørgensen, the head of the European Commission’s Directorate-General for Energy. Their discussions centered on shared commitments to tackle climate change and the pressing need for climate finance reform at the upcoming COP29.

Babayev met with Alok Sharma, the President of COP26. The COP29 team expressed gratitude to Sharma for sharing valuable insights on how the international community can reach consensus on climate change response.

The 29th Conference of the Parties to the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change (COP29) is scheduled to take place in Baku, Azerbaijan, in November 2024. This decision was reached during the plenary session of COP28 in Dubai on December 11, 2023.
