The Youth Negotiators Academy (YNA) hosted the Youth Leadership Forum as part of COP29.
The COP29 Youth Leadership Forum focuses on exploring the interconnectedness and complementarity of various approaches to addressing climate change. The event gathered key youth leaders advocating for climate action, lobbying for intergenerational justice, and driving forward tangible climate policies.
Among the speakers were environmental activist Enkhun Byambadorj, youth representative from Palestine at COP29 Mohammed Usrof, representative from the UN Youth for Climate and Environment Sigurd Seindal Krab, and executive director of the Ugandan-based international organization Goodlife Denis Acampora, among others. They shared their insights on ways to combat climate change and discussed how the voices of youth can be heard in the most impactful way.
The discussion also emphasized the importance of youth activism in pushing climate change issues to international organizations and national governments to prevent further climate change and achieve net-zero emissions.
COP29 is officially starting today in Baku. The event, which will take place from November 11 through 22, will bring together world leaders, politicians, and climate experts to discuss the pressing issues of climate change. Climate finance, emission reduction targets, and global cooperation are on the agenda. It is expected that the results of COP29 will have a significant impact on the formation of the future climate strategy of the planet.
