The island province of Hainan, located in southern China, has been left reeling in the wake of Super Typhoon Yagi, which struck the region on Friday. The powerful storm has claimed the lives of at least two individuals and left a staggering 92 people injured, according to Report, which cites China Central Television.

The two fatalities were residents of Dinan County, while the provincial capital, Haikou City, saw 80 people sustain injuries.

Super Typhoon Yagi, with its ferocious winds, tore roofs off buildings and overturned heavy trucks.

The storm’s impact on infrastructure has been severe, with 1.7 million households left without electricity due to the extensive damage caused to power grids. Repair crews are working tirelessly to restore power, while also focusing on clearing 89 roads that have been blocked by fallen trees and debris.

In addition to the power outages, the typhoon has also disrupted communication networks, with over 12,500 mobile phone base stations sustaining damage.
