In 2024, Azerbaijan witnessed an increase in cargo traffic via the international transport corridors passing through the country, with a total volume of 33.258 million tons and a cargo turnover of 13.198 billion ton-kilometers, Report informs, referring to the country’s State Statistical Committee.

These figures represent growth of 1.4% and 2.5% respectively, compared to 2023.

Last year, the East-West transport corridor transported over 16.982 million tons of cargo. Additionally, the Europe-Caucasus-Asia transport corridor saw the transportation of more than 8.322 million tons, the International North-South Transport Corridor (INSTC) accounted for 9.896 million tons, the North-West transport corridor carried nearly 5.985 million tons, and the South-West transport corridor transported 394,200 tons.

More than 15.277 million tons, or 46% of cargo transportation was carried out by railways, over 10 million tons, or 30.3% by roads, and 7.89 million tons, or 23.7% by sea.
