Bulgaria considers the Black Sea Energy cable project, which envisages the supply of green energy from Azerbaijan to Europe, important for strengthening regional and national energy security, as well as developing mutual relations.

Report informs that this was stated during a meeting between Azerbaijan’s Ambassador to Sofia Huseyn Huseynov and representatives of the State Oil Company of Azerbaijan (SOCAR) with Bulgaria’s Energy Minister Zhecho Stankov.

During the meeting, Stankov noted that Azerbaijan is Bulgaria’s strategic partner, and the energy sector plays a key role in bilateral relations: “Azerbaijan plays an important role in diversifying natural gas supplies and thereby strengthening the energy security of Bulgaria and the region.”

The parties discussed opportunities for cooperation in the energy sector and touched upon issues of mutual interest for both countries. SOCAR representatives emphasized their interest in expanding cooperation with Bulgaria.
