The delegation headed by Deputy Foreign Minister of Azerbaijan Mahmud Mammadguliyev took part in the 41st meeting of the BSEC Council of Ministers of Foreign Affairs of the Member States in Athens today, Report informs, citing the Foreign Ministry.

Issues of territorial cooperation within the organization, the activities of working groups, methods of improving efficiency, organizational issues, cooperation of BSEC with other states and organizations, etc were discussed at the meeting.

The meeting also discussed draft documents that have long been considered within the framework of the organization and cover economic cooperation, however the unconstructive approach of the Armenian side and the denial of international law made it impossible to adopt the documents, and this caused dissatisfaction of the member states.

The head of the Azerbaijani delegation said in his speech that our country is interested in effective and project-oriented activities in the organization and noted the importance of activities aimed at concrete results. According to him, Azerbaijan has implemented a number of projects in the region in the sphere of hubs, noted that there are great opportunities in this area, the BSEC region can take advantage of the potential of Azerbaijan. The Deputy Minister brought to the attention that unresolved conflicts are a big obstacle to the development of cooperation in the region, negatively affecting cooperation within the BSEC. Armenia, which holds Azerbaijani territories under occupationç, has thus isolated itself from regional projects.

Notably, Azerbaijan chaired the organization in 2018.
