Azerbaijan’s hosting of the 29th session of the Conference of the Parties to the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change (COP29) is a historic event, and the government has been preparing for this event at a high level for some time, permanent representative of Bosnia and Herzegovina to the UN, former Prime Minister of the country (2001-2002) Zlatko Lagumdžija told Report.
The diplomat emphasized that one of the key issues to be discussed at COP29 is climate change financing, and in this regard, great hopes are placed on Azerbaijan.
“During the past period, successful negotiations and meetings were held under the leadership of the appointed COP29 President Mukhtar Babayev. We are confident that significant progress will be made on climate financing issues at the COP under Azerbaijan’s chairmanship,” said Lagumdžija.
He noted that the COP29 agenda is very broad and rich with various initiatives.
