Emin Amrullayev, Azerbaijani Minister of Science and Education, attended the UNESCO Global Education Meeting (GEM) in Fortaleza, Brazil, where he held a series of meetings on the event’s sidelines.
During discussions with Sarah Al Amiri, UAE’s Minister of Education, Yousef bin Abdullah Al-Benyan, Saudi Minister of Education, Buthaina bint Ali Al Jabr Al Nuaimi, Qatari Minister of Education and Higher Education, Camilo Santana, Brazilian Minister of Education, and Chen Jie, Chinese Vice Minister of Education, the Azerbaijani Minister focused on COP29, which will take place in Baku, and explored current and future cooperation in science and education. Emin Amrullayev extended an invitation to his counterparts to attend the upcoming COP29 in Baku.
In a meeting with Andreas Schleicher, Director for Education and Skills, and Special Advisor on Education Policy to the Secretary-General at the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD), both sides hailed Azerbaijan’s initiative to include climate literacy as a criterion in the Programme for International Student Assessment (PISA), placing special emphasis on educational issues within the COP29 agenda.
