Barcelona has reached a fresh agreement with Lewandowski over a new contract, according to Mundo Deportivo, Report informs via Barca Universal.
The club, in fact, has closed the agreement with the Polish forward, who is all set to renew his contract at Barça for another year.
Lewandowski’s current deal expires at the end of the season. But the new deal could see him remain at Camp Nou until 2026.
The report adds that the deal was in place even before Lewandowski had played 50% of the matches this season – a key clause that was embedded in the contract.
That being said, there is no option to extend the contract for another year, which was something that was widely reported in the media.
That means Barcelona cannot automatically extend Lewandowski’s contract until 2027 without reaching an agreement with the player for the same.
Nevertheless, Barcelona’s conviction and effort to renew the contract of Lewandowski despite his age is indicative of the impact the Pole has had.
