
Today marks the 35th anniversary of the January 20 tragedy.
According to Report, on the night of January 20, 1990, peaceful civilians were massacred by former Soviet Union troops in several districts of Azerbaijan, including the capital, Baku.
During that tragic night, a total of 147 people were killed and 744 were wounded in Baku and surrounding districts.
The funeral ceremony for the victims took place on January 22, an event that has since entered Azerbaijan’s history as “Black January.”
