The relations of Azerbaijan’s diaspora organizations with foreign media outlets are not well-organized, Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev said addressing the 4th Congress of World Azerbaijanis in Baku June 3.
“We don’t have enough access to foreign media. The Azerbaijani diaspora is responsible for it, the state cannot interfere in it,” the president said.
The head of state noted that it is important to train Azerbaijani journalists abroad.
“These journalists will convey to the world community the truth about Azerbaijan. Information war is very important in the 21st century. This issue should be a priority for Azerbaijan’s diaspora organizations and discussed at today’s congress,” Ilham Aliyev said.
President Aliyev stressed that Armenians tried to portrait themselves as a wronged nation and Azerbaijanis an as invaders.
“The Armenians have achieved this more or less. Otherwise, the US Congress wouldn’t have adopted the Section 907,” he said.
Azerbaijani territories were occupied and an act of genocide was committed against Azerbaijanis, but this amendment was adopted under the pretext that Azerbaijan holds Armenia in blockage, the president noted.
According to the president, those who were in Azerbaijan at the time were unaware of governance.
“The Section is still valid. We have earlier tried to have this amendment cancelled but then we concluded that it is unnecessary. We do not seek help from anyone, we are on our feet,” President Aliyev underlined.
