Azerbaijan and Saudi Arabia discussed the Kingdom’s participation in COP29 events, as well as steps taken through the Joint Technical Committee between the energy ministries of the two countries.

According to Report, citing the Ministry of Energy, the discussions took place during a meeting between Energy Minister Parviz Shahbazov and Saudi Arabia’s Energy Minister Prince Abdulaziz bin Salman Al Saud in the Brazilian city of Foz do Iguaçu.

The meeting participants also discussed the situation in the global oil market, the fulfillment of obligations within OPEC+, as well as energy partnership between the countries.

During his visit to Brazil, Shahbazov also held meetings with Brazilian Minister of Mining and Energy Alexandre Silveira and Executive Director of the Global Renewable Energy Alliance Bruce Douglas.

These meetings focused on strengthening interstate relations through COP and G20 platforms, the role of Azerbaijan and Brazil in the energy transition, joint efforts of the COP troika (Azerbaijan, UAE, and Brazil) in implementing new commitments, as well as Azerbaijan’s offshore wind energy and “green energy” supply projects, and the participation of the Global Renewable Energy Alliance and the private sector in these initiatives.
