Azerbaijan’s Prime Minister Ali Asadov has met with Mohamed Abdulsalam, the Secretary-General of the Council of Muslim Elders, the Cabinet of Ministers told Report.

The sides stressed the significance of the Global Summit of Religious Leaders, held in Baku under the motto “World Religions for a Green Planet” within the framework of COP29.

It was noted that Azerbaijan hosts crucial events related to the development of dialogue between religions, cultures, and civilizations.

Multiculturalism and tolerance were emphasized as an integral part of Azerbaijani society’s way of life. The centuries-long peaceful coexistence of people with diverse ethnic values, cultures, and religions in the country was cited as a testament to this fact.

In modern times, multiculturalism and tolerance have become one of the main directions of state policy in Azerbaijan.

The declaration of the liberated city of Shusha as the “Cultural Capital of the Islamic World” in 2020 was appreciated as a manifestation of the great support shown to Azerbaijan by the entire Islamic world.
