Azerbaijan’s Energy Minister Parviz Shahbazov held several talks during the 4th meeting of energy ministers from member and observer states of the Organization of Turkic States (OTS) in Kyrgyzstan, Report informs.
In a meeting with Kyrgyzstan’s Energy Minister Taalaibek Ibrayev, the two sides exchanged views on the energy issues within bilateral relations, which have risen to the level of strategic partnership. They reviewed issues related to the Action Plan on energy cooperation between the two countries and the Working Group aimed at a broad energy partnership. Renewable energy was assessed as an area with significant prospects for the development of Azerbaijan-Kyrgyzstan relations in line with modern global challenges. The possibility of Kyrgyzstan joining Azerbaijan’s ongoing cooperation with Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan on the initiative to export green energy from Central Asia to Azerbaijan and then to Europe was also considered.
Minister Shahbazov also met with Ahmet Berat Conkar, Deputy Minister of Energy and Natural Resources of Türkiye. They discussed priority issues on the bilateral energy agenda and the development of regional energy projects. It was noted that the Igdir-Nakhchivan gas pipeline will be commissioned by the end of the year. Attention was paid to the implementation status of the Türkiye-Azerbaijan Interconnector project via Nakhchivan, as well as the processes carried out to involve a consulting company in preparing the technical and economic analysis and justification of the project for the development of a green energy zone in Nakhchivan.
Meanwhile, in a meeting with Kubanychbek Omuraliev, Secretary General of the Organization of Turkic States, Minister Shahbazov discussed Azerbaijan’s cooperation with the organization, especially the role of energy projects in developing relations between Turkic states.
