Azerbaijan’s agriculture sector requires time to adapt to the challenges posed by climate change, Majnun Mammadov, the Minister of Agriculture of Azerbaijan, told Report.
“Climate change has a negative impact on agriculture. One year there is a drought, and the next year rainfall is distributed abnormally. Farmers need time to adapt to these issues and structure their planting and agrotechnical services accordingly,” he noted.
The minister also mentioned that as part of the 29th session of the Conference of the Parties (COP29) to the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change, which is being held in Baku from November 11 and will last till November 22, an agriculture day will be held on November 19.
