“The goal of the tripartite agreement is that the Zangezur Corridor must be launched. Azerbaijan is fulfilling all its obligations in this regard. I have been to that region; construction work is underway. President Ilham Aliyev’s approach to communication lines is that they must be clearly in working order,” Political scientist Tofig Abbasov told Report.

According to him, the central element of the new geopolitical configuration in the Caucasus is the Zangazur Corridor:

“Although now France supports the Armenians. But France is far from this region. We are in this region; there are Russia, Turkey, Iran, and Georgia. It is in the interest of all these countries to launch the Zangezur Corridor. Russia also wants this because several new preferences of Russia are opened in this issue. Direct land connections will be set with Turkey, and relations with Iran will be normalized. At the same time, it is an essential communication for Armenia itself. Therefore, after establishing power in Armenia, Nikol Pashinyan should be seriously asked what he has done and what he intends to do in connection with the obligations arising from the tripartite statement.”
