Electricity production in Azerbaijan, according to preliminary data, decreased by 0.33 percent from January through July 2024 compared to the same period in 2023, amounting to 16.26 billion kilowatt-hours (kWh).

Data from the country’s Ministry of Energy shows that 1.86 billion kWh of the produced electricity accounted for hydroelectric power plants (HPPs), while 13.86 kWh – thermal power plants (TPPs).

The country produced more than 29.27 billion kWh of electricity in 2023, which is 272.3 million kWh more than the previous year.

Over three billion kWh of electricity was exported, while imports amounted to 211.8 million kWh.
