On November 10, Armenia, Azerbaijan and Russia signed an agreement to end six weeks of fierce fighting in Nagorno-Karabakh.

Under the agreement, Russian peacekeepers were deployed along the front line in Nagorno-Karabakh and the corridor between the region and Armenia. A total of 1,960 Russian peacekeepers were deployed in Nagorno-Karabakh under a five-year mandate.

Also, according to the agreement, on 20 November, Armenia handed over the Aghdam region which lies to the east of Nagorno-Karabakh, to Azerbaijan. This followed on 25 November by the Kalbajar region to the northwest of Nagorno-Karabakh.

Carpet weaving is one of Azerbaijan’s most ancient arts, dating back to the Bronze Age.

Euronews visited a renowned museum in Baku, home to ancient as well as modern carpets, Report informs.

Carpets have been at the heart of Azerbaijani art and culture for thousands of years.

In 2010, their importance was recognized by UNESCO, which added Azerbaijani carpets to its intangible cultural heritage of humanity list.

Traditional Azeri carpets have a dense texture – and the patterns are characteristic of the different regions where the art is practiced.

The world’s first carpet museum is in Baku. Exquisite carpets are on display there, while delicate items are kept in climate-controlled storage for their protection.

Anar Kerimov is Azerbaijan’s Minister of Culture, and said the carpets are a symbol of Azerbaijani culture.

“It is a legacy that we inherited from our ancestors and it has been passed from generation to generation for centuries. It is so dear and close to Azerbaijani people that you can find a carpet in every house and every family, making it a very significant and inseparable part of our lifestyle.”

The carpets are renowned for their compositions, vivid colors, and different weaving techniques, as Shirin Melikova, the director of the Carpet Museum, explained.

“By the ornaments we can talk about different periods, all of them have a meaning, very deep meaning, and if you know this meaning, you can even read and find out very special features of each historical time.”

Azerbaijani carpet weaving can be traced back to the Bronze Age. Today, it consists of seven major carpet weaving schools, each with its distinct patterns and traditions.

“This carpet called “Resistance” was created in 2017. The main topic of the carpet is that black crows depict the society, and the orange crow is the personality. This personality resists the society,” artist, Chingiz Babayev, explained.

The museum is also a research, training, cultural and educational center, where different exhibitions and conferences are held.

The Azerbaijan Carpet Museum is a unique attraction for both locals and visitors to Baku.

“I work with tourists, and I always recommend the carpet museum because it is a very unusual building, inside and out. When you look at it from the outside, it is like a folded carpet, and inside I feel like I am back into my childhood, because I remembered my grandmother, and when I was waking up at her summer house, summer was the first thing that I saw,” Tatyana Ivashkevich, said.

16 people have been nabbed outside the prosecutor general’s office in Yerevan due to clashes between police officers and protest participants.

Report informs, citing news.am, that police officers use force to apprehend citizens. A cameraman of a local media suffered as a result.

Human rights activist Ruben Melikyan said there is a woman among those detained.

The situation in front of the prosecutor’s office aggravated after the crowd started throwing eggs at the building.

The protest participants demand the release of several leaders of the Syunik community, who, according to them, were detained illegally.

Azerbaijan’s Ministry of Defense has released video footage of Shahvaladli village of Jabrayil district.

State Agency of Azerbaijan Automobile Roads continues to install information boards indicating the direction and distance to the liberated territories of Azerbaijan, Report informs, citing the Agency.

According to the information, 26 such boards have been renewed, while 20 more have been installed on highways and national roads. The Agency is planning to renovate 15 more boards and install ten new ones in a short period.

In accordance with the Combat Training Plan 2021 approved by the Minister of Defense, anti-aircraft missile units of the Azerbaijan Army conduct live-fire tactical exercises, according to the press service of the Defense Ministry of Azerbaijan. 

In the course of the exercises, demonstrational combat firing from anti-aircraft mounts and anti-aircraft missile systems of various calibers is carried out. The imaginary air targets are destroyed by the precise fire at the exercises conducted in conditions close to combat.

In the exercises the main attention is focused on the operational control of units, improving their skills in organizing combat activities in cooperation with other types of troops, and increasing the level of combat readiness of military personnel considering the experience gained during the Patriotic War.

“Nikol is a traitor!” they voiced slogans.

Pashinyan’s bodyguard’s clothes were torn during the incident.

Protesters reportedly attacked Pashinyan’s entourage and the prime minister’s car. Nikol Pashinyan’s National Security Service and 500 masked police officers did not resist the attack, got into a car, and left the city with Pashinyan.

Thus, the planned visit of the Prime Minister to the region did not take place.

Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan left the city of Agarak in the country’s south after hundreds of residents staged a protest against his trip to the area, Report informs, citing TASS.

“I apologize for their behavior,” Pashinyan said, speaking through the megaphone, walked dozens of meters, boarded a car, and left.

Participants of the protests in the Syunik region of Armenia who oppose Pashinyan’s visit to the area earlier blocked the street for the prime minister’s motorcade. The action participants chanted slogans, accusing the PM of betrayal, and occasionally clashed with the police.

A subscriber in Azerbaijan has resorted to an unusual way to illegally tap into a gas line, Azerigaz Production Union of the State Oil Company of Azerbaijan (SOCAR) told Report.

The Production Union employees were shocked by the ‘idea’ of the subscriber.

The subscriber illegally connected a rubber hose to the gas line through a tree branch.

This method of illegal gas hook-up was recorded in Azerbaijan for the first time.
