Azerbaijan is Germany’s main trade partner in the South Caucasus, said Azerbaijan’s Foreign Minister Elmar Mammadyarov.
He made the remarks during a joint briefing with the OSCE Chairperson-in-Office and German Foreign Minister Frank-Walter Steinmeier in Baku June 30.
Mammadyarov pointed out that the relations between Azerbaijan and Germany are developing rapidly.
“I have paid four visits to Germany over past 1.5 years. The relations between Azerbaijan and Germany are strengthening day by day,” said the FM.
He noted that Germany is interested in energy and economic projects proposed by Azerbaijan.
Azerbaijan is doing great work to restore German cultural monuments, according to the FM.
“Azerbaijan has submitted a bill on strategic partnership to the EU. We believe a mandate to start negotiations will be issued this month,” said Mammadyarov, stressing that Azerbaijan-EU relations are growing stronger day by day.
