
The State Tourism Agency has reached an agreement on maintaining high-level regular cooperation throughout 2025 within the framework of the Circular Green Tourism project in the countries of the Conference on Interaction and Confidence Building Measures in Asia (CICA), Report informs, citing the agency.
The agreement was reached at the meeting between Agency Chairman Fuad Naghiyev and CICA Secretary General Kairat Sarybay.
During the meeting, they discussed prospects for regular cooperation in tourism within Azerbaijan’s chairmanship of CICA for 2024-2026, which was received at CICA’s 7th Ministerial Council meeting. They also exchanged views on the Agency’s project proposals for the tourism section of CICA’s official concept document.
Sarybay expressed gratitude for the high-level organization and hospitality shown during the 29th session of the Conference of the Parties (COP29) to the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change hosted by Azerbaijan last year. Additionally, he expressed interest in organizing media tours to Azerbaijan for media representatives from CICA member states to promote Azerbaijan’s tourism potential.
CICA was proposed at the 47th session of the UN General Assembly in 1992. The main purpose of establishing the Conference was to conduct effective and universal activities to ensure peace and security in Asia.
