“Our society bears the responsibility to evaluate criticism. Here, the role of the society is as essential as that of journalists,” Hikmet Hajiyev, Assistant to the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan and Head of the Foreign Policy Affairs Department of the Presidential Administration, said during his speech at the Second Shusha Global Media Forum.
Highlighting the lag of the media in processes related to artificial intelligence, Hikmet Hajiyev stated: “We must work more closely with the UN and other organizations on a global scale. A lot of work needs to be done regarding terminology. Sharing accurate information is crucial for society.”
Hikmet Hajiyev noted that since gaining independence, Azerbaijan has faced serious disinformation, particularly from Armenia. He pointed out various waves of disinformation despite Azerbaijan facing humanitarian challenges, with media reports often framing events as though Azerbaijan was responsible for actions against Armenians.
