Israel is represented at the COP29 conference with a national pavilion and a large delegation with nearly 20 companies, Assaf Yazdi, Director General at Israel’s Ministry of Environmental Protection, said in an interview with Report.
Yazdi stated that Israel is grateful to Azerbaijan for organizing COP29 at a high level.
“Israel can be part of the solution to climate change, contributing to both mitigation and adaptation,” Yazdi said.
He noted that nearly 20 Israeli companies presented their climate projects at the national pavilion in the COP29 exhibition.
“Israel is ready to present its technologies to the world to combat climate change. We also intend to discuss cooperation and joint projects with Azerbaijan in this field in the future. Specific projects and concrete cooperation will be discussed later with relevant authorities,” Yazdi stated.
He also emphasized that Israel plans to completely phase out fossil fuels over several decades. “We strive to completely abandon fossil fuels and implement transit to renewable energy, especially solar energy. Because Israel has many sunny hours throughout the year,” the director general noted.
According to Yazdi, Israel pays special attention to climate financing.
