The Economy Ministry of Armenia hopes for a dialogue between the management of the Zangezur Copper-Molybdenum Combine and the trade union to resolve the current dispute, Economy Minister Gevork Papoyan told a briefing, Report informs, citing Armenian media.

According to Papoyan, all disputes cannot be left to the government to resolve; institutional mechanisms are needed for this. There are institutions like trade unions to resolve disputes between workers and enterprise management.

“I can only add that the best solution is to restore the plant’s operation as soon as possible. Every day the plant remains inactive affects the country’s economy, and the decrease in production and export volumes can lead to social consequences,” the minister noted.

According to earlier reports, a fight broke out among the plant workers involving weapons. The incident occurred between striking employees and those opposing the strike. Protesters attacked those who wanted to continue working with firearms and knives.
