“I have played in the Albanian team under coach Gianni De Biasi. He quickly chooses proper footballers who fit his system of playing,” former football player of Karabakh FC Ansi Agolli said. Agolli was commenting on reports about Gianni De Biasi’s candidacy for head coach of the Azerbaijan national team, Report informs.

The Albanian defender, who is currently playing for the American New York Cosmos club, believes the Italian specialist can benefit the team. The 38-year-old player recalled the historic success he achieved under coach De Biasi: “Thanks to his system, we qualified for the Euro 2016 final. We also beat Armenia in both matches in the qualifying round with 2-1 score at home and 3-0 away.”

Agolli said De Biasi is a very disciplined coach. “He mainly works on tactics. De Biasi changed our football mentality, introducing the spirit of victory. Regardless of the opponent, we were not afraid of any team. He is also a good motivator. He has gained much sympathy in Albania,” Agolli underlined.

Ansi Agolli, who played for Karabakh FC in 2012-2019, had 73 matches in the Albanian squad. Gianni De Biasi ran the club in 2011-2017.
