Having an opportunity to discuss Demiragac Park, a symbol of friendship between the Czech and Azerbaijani people, is a great pride, Czech Ambassador to Azerbaijan Milan Sedláček told journalists, according to Report.

“Nestled in the beautiful Lankaran district of Azerbaijan, home to the resilient iron tree, this park has become a testament to our nations’ bond,” the diplomat said.

He noted that in 2023, together with the Ministry of Ecology and Natural Resources, the embassy planted 100 iron trees here for the first time.

“This year, with great enthusiasm and in the spirit of the Green World Solidarity Year and the upcoming COP29 in Azerbaijan, we expanded Demiragac Park even further by planting additional 101 trees in April,” he said.

He hailed the love for nature among the Azerbaijani people as truly inspiring.

“Seeing so many eager participants in tree-planting events brings me great joy. I believe that by continuing these annual initiatives, we will not only contribute to the growth of Demiragac Park but also strengthen our joint efforts in environmental protection and further solidify the friendly relations between our nations,” the ambassador said.

The diplomat noted that representatives from the embassy, the Ministry of Ecology and Natural Resources, Lankaran city officials, students, and local residents all played a direct role in establishing Demiragac Park.

“It’s heartening to see a 100% sprouting rate in this iron tree park we created together,” he said.

Milan Sedláček voiced confidence that, over the years, the park will transform into a vast forest, standing as another lasting symbol of friendship between the two peoples peoples.

“This contribution to Azerbaijan’s extensive ecological and greening measures is a significant success,” he said.

The ambassador noted that in addition to founding Demiragac Park, the Ministry of Ecology and Natural Resources has collaborated with the embassy since 2019 to modernize ecotourism in Azerbaijan. As part of this program, a hiking trail in Hirkan National Park was marked according to Czech standards, with new signs installed along the tourist routes.

He also noted that the cooperation in protecting the environment will successfully continue and the friendship between the two peoples will be as durable and strong as an iron tree.
