ACWA Power has certain plans regarding the green energy corridor led by Azerbaijan, Selim Guven, ACWA Power’s director for Azerbaijan and Türkiye, told journalists, Report informs.
According to Selim Guven, Azerbaijan will transfer its success and reliable supply experience in oil and gas sector to the green energy sector:
“Within this project, it is planned to build an energy corridor extending from Azerbaijan to Europe, as well as from Uzbekistan and Kazakhstan to Azerbaijan. At the same time, it is envisaged to establish a green energy corridor from Azerbaijan to Türkiye via Nakhchivan. These corridors will ensure the export of the region’s rich green energy to Europe and other markets in need. We are trying to support achieving these goals in the shortest possible time,” Guven emphasized.
Azerbaijan’s technical potential for renewable energy sources is 135 GW on land and 157 GW at sea. The economic potential of renewable energy sources is 27 GW, including 3,000 MW for wind energy, 23,000 MW for solar energy, 380 MW for bioenergy potential, and 520 MW for mountain rivers potential.
Currently, within the framework of cooperation with ACWA Power, the construction of the 240 MW Khizi-Absheron Wind Power Plant is being carried out. The project is being implemented near Pirakashkul and Sitalchay in the Absheron-Khizi area.
