The acting attorney general of the Micronesian state of Yap has been shot dead, police say.
Rachelle Bergeron was shot last night at about 7 or 8pm by a single suspected shooter, a police spokesperson said.
A motive was unclear, with police investigations ongoing, Ryan Fratmag said.
“They are working on the case right now.”
The state government has been approached for comment.
Ms Bergeron first arrived in Yap from the US in 2015, taking up the position of assistant attorney general before being promoted to acting attorney general in January. /radionz
