54% of French citizens approve the idea that President Emmanuel Macron should step down to hold early elections in 2025, Report informs, citing the Cluster17 poll conducted for Le Point magazine.
During the survey, respondents could express their opinion about the recent no-confidence vote against Prime Minister Michel Barnier. 47% of respondents approve the no-confidence vote against Barnier’s government, 41% do not support this decision, while the remaining participants were undecided.
The day before, the lower house of the French parliament – the National Assembly – passed a vote of no confidence in Michel Barnier’s government, initiated by the left coalition “New People’s Front.” 331 deputies voted for no confidence, against 288 votes needed for the motion to pass. This was the first successful no-confidence vote in France since 1962 – when parliament removed Georges Pompidou’s government from power.
